Playoffs and rock 'n roll!

What could be better than a combination of Dallas Cowboy football playoffs and Rock Band on the Wii? Everyone in the family gets into it. Well, I don't get into the football so much. I have made sure everyone in the family has Cowboy shirts/outfits but me. Hmmm....and I hand't really planned on changing this either. I might get a Saints shirt. Then Ron and I may have some conflicting issues. Diversity is good!!

The kids looked to cute all coordinated in their Cowboy gear. Then they let their true sides come out in playing Rock Band. Melissa and Caleb love it. Caleb loves the drums and Melissa loves to help with this. Which then causes a fight. What's a family without fighting kids??

Dysfunctional Hour

During the much fun trip to Utah I got to meet with my BFF, very BFF ever (I sound like I am 15!) and as usual had a round of giggles. We can not get together without laughing till our sides hurt, and what fun it is. She is so creative, and funny. Sometimes crazy funny, which makes me love her all the more. I think she is the best. Well, my super BFF came up with this idea we should have our own talk show. (She is always coming up with money making ideas which we of course, never fulfill. ) Christine decided we should have "Dysfunctional Hour". Where we talk about all the dysfunctional things in our family (sorry fam but you know there are plenty!) and the dysfunctional things we do to our hubbies, and especially when it comes to raising our kids. WE laughed and laughed till we had tears about the coffee dysfunctional hour and the endless topics we could pursue. SO I decided to actually DO something about this. (Past suggestions we laugh and say how great it would be.) Of course, I have no $ for a cable TV show on this topic, yet alone a radio show. Hence, the enter the blog. I will TRY, I vow, to enter something completely dysfunctional that I experienced, or subjected other people to each week. Then you as my small audience must tell me what you did, all more the better!!

Without further ado.....
My dysfunctional thing this week, all I can think of, is I told Melissa to go scare Ron. The thing is I KNEW Ron was on the potty, going ...err... potty. Like he would be there a loooooong time. HA HA!! I also knew he had not locked the door. Snicker snicker, "Melissa go yell BOOO at Daddy!" What kind of mother/wife would manipulate her kid into thinking scaring Daddy on the potty is funny?? My mission was not successful, but at least I tried.

Ok, one down, unknown amounts left to go....

This is my favorite picture of Ryan, well favorite recently. He thinks getting his picture taken is so great, but has failed to grasp the concept of holding still for the camera. He will run towards me the moment I get it out and try to grab it. Cute as it is makes picture taking a chore since the subject is always in motion. Isn't Ryan always in motion?? He has picked up so many new words it is amazing. Seems like he is in a rush for everything (rush to be born, rush to walk, etc). Since I like to brag (what parent doesn't?) His vocab now consists of: thank you, outside, light, kitty, doggie, ball, car, harley (more like lee), hi, bye and momma and daddy. He likes to be the greeter. I took him out to lunch for a play date earlier this week and he went to each and every table and said hello to the people there. He would stand in front of the table until he eye contact was made then he would say (more like yell) "hiiii!". Then RUN to the next table. Cute? Yes. Good for trying to keep track of a two year old on a play date? No. Good for trying to eat lunch in a crowded fast food joint? Nope. But cute.

Caleb and Melissa were just goofing around and I was able to snatch these shots. It is a perfect portrait of their relationship. Of course, this must be on Caleb's terms. AKA- no friends are around to see this, no friends are around to play with and NEVER EVER repeat that he plays with his little sister. But when these terms are met he does quite well. Caleb will occasionally indulge in a rolling on the floor wrestling match with both babies. This occasion is so rare it has yet to be photographed for evidence.
Christmas Eve night, well early morning Christmas was such hard work that Banjo just couldn't keep up. And all the kids were sleeping, they looked so sweet and just like "sugar plums dancing in their heads".

We went to Utah right after Christmas for an overdue visit. We, the Peterson's, have been terribly demanding on the family and make them journey here. Mostly due to $$ constrictions, and well 10 - 11 hours in the car with three kids just does not make out to fun. The kids were amazing in the car, believe it or not. The above picture is Melissa so excited to see "Nemo" at the aquarium there in Sandy. Caleb and Melissa LOVED the place. It was so crowded we could not get the stroller through most of it. Which made for frustrated parents with kids going in all directions, but it was fun in the end. Or so I tell myself.
There was so much snow there in Utah!! Crazy levels of snow. The babies have never seen snow like this. Much to our surprise Melissa did not like the snow. She likes sledding down the hill, but carry her up the hill, across the street, and so forth. What a prima donna!
Typical Ryan and Caleb photo, both crying. There were lots of tears shed during the Utah trip, mostly because there was so much to do and see, and so little sleep and lack of schedule. We through it out the window! And yes, we suffered when we got home too! The kids just this week have gotten back to bed time BEFORE 11 PM!! No fun for when I have to get up with Caleb to get ready for school. Caleb decided he would be responsible enough to get himself up, ready, teeth brushed and out the door without waking. He claims he knew how tired I have been. Well, all I know is I woke up to the TV on the cartoon channel, food on the table and no Caleb. I screamed and yelled, looked through out the house. Of course called Ron in a near panic! Then I called the school, yep, he's there and fine. Caleb sure caught an earful when arriving home. So the next morning he decided he would just leave me a note. Never mind the note is REALLY small and barely seen on the counter ledge......sigh. Not sure what I will do with that boy.

The begining of the updated blog. Pics. Pics. Pics.

I'll update more later.......or edit this post

New Year's Resolutions

I used to hate these resolution things, why makes goals on things I know I am not going to do? Then I got old and I TRY to make them every year. TRY being the operative word. I actually think about things I want done during the year. Stupid things mostly, but some goals are better than no goals.
So here are my New Year's Resolutions:
Feed the kids breakfast BEFORE 10 AM, so they stop bugging me.
Walk these beasts of animals daily, so they stop bugging me.
Update this blog so I can stop feeling guilty about not keeping friends and family informed on my daily happenings. AKA so they can stop bugging me.
I will try to eat breakfast, before lunch time, and lunch before dinner time.
I will think about getting a job--ooo already done see??

That's all, otherwise I feel like an underachiever that did not get anything done during the previous year. ;)

new posting

Oh wait, you thought something exciting actually happened in America's dullest house??? Hmmmm....nope. Nothing exciting here. Same ol' same ol'. Melissa now says "Ewww, Kuk!" When she sees a bug. She says things such as: "I like clothes", and " I like this". It is terribly cute and adorable. Then there is the purchase of the new trike. She can not peddle it but she can give Ryan a good shove from the trike and run him over. And scream "MINE!!" What fun that is.
Ryan is now starting to fight back, he tackles Melissa to the ground and pulls her hair out, or steps on her face. Again, what fun. So the little ones fight a lot right now, there is serious smacking and shoving happening. Of course when they are 10 month and 2 there is no real harm done and I can not keep a straight face during the fights. Their little faces get so mad and you can tell they are putting real effort into the fight, but they really just roll around on the floor.
Caleb decided to trade the lizards in. Well, mostly since they were all dying. We lost all of them in the matter of a week. So he traded with his pal for a hermit crab. Now I am terrified this crab will die. Which means I killed some kid's pet. I can just hear the label "pet killer" being shouted at me. As a result I hauled the kids over to Petsmart and bought everything a crab could need.
So now since the babies are sleeping at the same time, I am going to go to bed as well. This never happens during the day any more. 20 min nap for me then off to work I go. I feel like a hamster spinning my wheel.

Ron FINALLY got the seats put on to the bikes. I have been waiting -and wanting- to get back to riding for years. I did not know how we would manage this with the little ones. Now we go on rides every night. Oh the burn..... hopefully it will whip my butt into shape-literally.

The babies look so funny in their helmets, especially Ryan. He looks like Helmet Men from Spaceballs (or so Ron says). He spends the entire ride trying to take the helmet off. usually it just slides over his face then he cries because he can't see anything. Melissa is the opposite. She LOVES to ride, and is always asking to go. She will retrieve her helmet and put it on, and then cries when she has to come home.

There is a pic of Melissa "playing dead". Mostly it looks like her licking her finger. But we "shoot" each other (meaning anyone on the family shoots anyone) and then we play dead. Ryan has not quite figured this out yet.

Last but not least the babies were caught "drinking and riving". They looked like they were in so much trouble it was hard to keep a straight face.

On a side note, I am still working full time. I work at Sprint and will work there as long as they will have me, or I keep up with all the metrics they have. It is OK. Some days I like it, others not so much. Just like every other job. It pays the bills and gives us great medical benefits.

Well, both babies are sleeping, meaning I refuse to miss out on this opportunity to catch some zzzz's as well. I will post when something exciting happens (uh....never).

Melissa is waaay tired after an afternoon of swimming. The kids loved the pool. They all swam for almost three hours!! That is a long time when you are little. They also slept really good that night. I am thinking I should do this more often. Oh no, wait I work full time now, so we will do this less often. :(

Melissa did NOT like the parade. It was too loud for her. In fact she is terrified of fireworks!! Last year she was laughing at them, this year she was crying. She was so scared of the noise that she asked to go to bed, I think she just shut down to cope. Melissa would hold her hands over her mouth and shake when she heard the noise. Maybe next year she will be laughing about them again.

This was the only pic I could get of the three kids together. They looked so cute in their coordinating tee shirts. Later in the parade they were all waving their little flags. It was adorable, of course I missed the moment with the camera.
Since I now work full time the postings, which were never regular to begin with, will become even more irregular. After all I am back to the "grind" of the working world. So on my days off I run around getting errands done, then groceries, then laundry. Once this is all completed it is time to go back to work again. Ron and I work opposite schedules, no days off together. I will say that sucks!! But it allows the babies to only have a sitter for three days rather than five. So I think it is worth it. Speaking of which, the sitter is AMAZING!! She adores the kids, tends to them wonderful, cleans the house and does the laundry!! The house has never been cleaner!! I am not giving out her name, I am terrified someone will steal her from me!! :)
When I actually get the kids out to do something, maybe if the errands are ran, dinner made and cleaned up, laundry completed, quality time with hubby done and babies are sleeping I will post another blog........one of these days.......
